 STRUCTURE . . .

I weave tapestries in series rather than individually. The skeleton of "Weft and D'rash" is the 36 series (as listed in the website menubar), many of which consist of subseries. Interpreting clear-cut narratives and creating my own vague ones is an essential part of my artwork, and the series format emphasizes the unfolding stories.

The minimum number of tapestries in a series (or subseries) is 3. The longest series has 152 tapestries ("The Story of Joseph"), one has 71 ("The Whimsical Haggadah"), and all other series (and subseries) have between 3 and 21 tapestries.

The 36 series are organized  into seven project reference-categories ([a]-[g]) according to topics. The categories start with ancient Biblical times and end with contemporary living.

                                                         [a]  -  The Hebrew Bible
[b]  -  Rabbinic texts and Jewish mysticism
                                                         [c]  -  The Jewish liturgy
[d]  -  Jewish traditions, concepts, and history
[e]  -  Biblical texts and present realities
                                                         [f]   -  October 7
[g]  -  Tapestries that belong in the project but are not included in [a]-[f]

. . . AND TITLES

I think of my "Weft and Drash" project in architectural terms. The titles and subtitles of series and subseries form an intricate framework; they are intended to be logical as well as creative. (At times, they are minimal  when that is the most fitting.) The totality of my quarter-century project is ONE intentionally designed expression that I keep reconsidering and augmenting as I keep adding new work throughout while not working in a specific order.  In other words, neither process nor result is a linear endeavor.
